The next day we decided we needed to get the cars cleaned out and get started. First thing was to get the air fixed. If you have ever been in Western Tennessee in the summer you know it is hot. We went to the only hardware store in town and made arrangements for the air and also a new dishwasher. Little did I know how many times I would be visiting them that summer. The furniture arrived later that day and we couldn't put it in the house, so the big decision was what are we going to do. They finally decided that they could fill up the garage with everything. That was just great. We had a trail to move though the garage. At this point it was obvious that we would be living out of suitcases for a while. If you wanted to put make up on you had to find paper to sit on since the carpet was so dirty.
I got started cleaning cabinets that had nor been cleaned in the 2 years they had rented it. It took so much stuff just to get the grease off. She had also put a print from a wallpaper on each cabinet so that also had to come down. Finally after2 days the cabinets both inside and out. Now came the job of unpacking dishes and the kitchen. Well, we finally had that all straighten out so now it was time to decide what to do with the rest of the house. We talked it over and decided with all the animals that hardwood would be a good choice. Now to find a contractor. That is were my nightmares begin. We had already decided to re-do both bathrooms and in hall put in a jacuzzi. We both have arthritis so that helps greatly. Everything I had ever learned in my business suddenly just went out the window. More on that later (next Post).
